How it works

From your parameters to a feasibility-ready scope — in one session.

No spreadsheets, no weeks of back-and-forth. Tell the Power Configurator about your project and it returns an optimised power system, budgetary costs and the basis for your feasibility study — built for African conditions.

Input to project

How it works, from input to project.

Tell us about your project

You start by describing the project. The Power Configurator asks for the parameters that actually drive a power system design:

  • Sector & application — Industrial, Mining, Utilities or Telecom, and what the power is for.
  • Location — country and region, so costs, logistics and regulation match your market.
  • Load & demand profile — how much power you need, and how it varies through the day.
  • Site & ambient conditions — altitude, temperature and irradiance, which change what your equipment can deliver.
  • Grid situation — on-grid, weak-grid or fully off-grid.
  • Ownership model — captive, IPP, BOO, PPP, ESCO or lease.
  • Your priorities — lowest upfront cost, lowest lifetime cost, maximum reliability or lowest emissions.

The configurator builds your power model

With your inputs, it sizes the system and selects the right technology mix — diesel or HFO gensets, gas, solar PV, wind, battery storage, or a hybrid. It derates equipment for your site’s temperature and altitude, balances the mix against your priorities, and lands on a configuration that fits your load, your conditions and your budget.

You receive your scope

In minutes you get a complete first-pass scope:

  • Optimised power model — the generation mix sized to your load and site.
  • Equipment configuration — the recommended technology, type and layout.
  • Budgetary costs — indicative CAPEX and OPEX.
  • Permitting & regulation — the authorisations that apply in your country.
  • Feasibility memorandum — the structured basis for your feasibility study.
  • Initial project & financial plan — a programme and financial outline to build on.

Take it forward

Use the scope to decide, compare options or brief your board. When you’re ready to build, appoint Future Energy Venture to take it from indicative scope through detailed feasibility, engineering, procurement and financing — and we credit your report fee against our development fee.

Credible by design

Indicative by design — and transparent about it.

The Power Configurator gives you screening-level numbers built on real equipment and cost data. The assumptions are shown, not hidden, and you can adjust the key inputs to see how the result moves. It’s built to get you to a confident go/no-go decision fast — not to replace the detailed engineering and sign-off a financeable feasibility study needs, which our team provides.

What it replaces

Weeks of scoping, in a single session.

Early feasibility work normally means consultant day-rates and weeks of waiting before you know whether a project is worth pursuing. The Power Configurator compresses that first pass into one session — so you can test more options, drop weak projects early, and move the good ones forward faster.
